Aerospace

Southend-on Sea is home to London Southend Airport, a long-established regional airport for South East Essex and the Thames Gateway and also boasts a new airport railway station providing fast and frequent train services direct to Central London. Rochester-based BAE Systems is a global company engaged in the development, delivery and support of advanced defence, security and aerospace systems in the air, on land and at sea and Basildon is the home to international companies in the aerospace, engineering and electronics sector such as Food Motor Company, CNH and Visteon.
Southend-on-Sea is one of the UK’s primarily seaside resorts, and also home to one of the Thames Gateway’s accessible airports. London Southend Airport is a long-established regional airport for South East Essex and the Thames Gateway. A new airport railway station providing fast and frequent train services direct to Stratford (for Docklands and Canary Wharf) and to Central London’s Liverpool Street Station will soon provide its passengers with faster door-to-door times inbound to London than most other London airports - and at lower costs.
Basildon, lying 25 miles from Central London, is a key employment and aerospace location within the South Essex region of the Thames Gateway, with nearly 60,000 people working within its boundaries. It is the home to global companies in the aerospace, high-tech, R&D, engineering and electronics sector such as Ford Motor Company, SELEX, CNH and Visteon.
