Swale
Based in the Thames Gateway, the highly successful Kent Science Park is currently expanding to meet demand. At present, 80 organisations are using its dedicated technical and research laboratories and further its facilities on the 42 hectare site.
Kent Science Park
Swale is home to the largest science park in the Thames Gateway – The Kent Science Park – which offers first class infrastructure including purpose-built research and development facilities for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, renewable energy and IT sectors.
With over 80 companies within the Kent Science Park Campus, companies of all sizes and backgrounds will feel at home. Plus the local universities – the University of Kent and Greenwich University at Medway – provide local businesses with a highly skilled and motivated supply of labour.
A new facility within the Kent Science Park – the Kent Science Resource Centre – will give students experience that will equip them to meet the needs of the Thames Gateway’s strong bio-pharmacy and bio-tech sectors. The Centre has received the backing of important companies in the sector including Abbot Murex, Genzyme and Pfizer.
The Kent Science Resource Centre brings Higher Education provision to Swale, making a major contribution by providing a highly skilled workforce for local industry.
Further more, the ongoing regeneration of Swale and Sittingbourne includes the construction of thousands of new homes and a new major link road which will smooth the flow of commercial traffic. The Aldi supermarket group is building its new distribution centre in the north of the area and Morrison’s has one of the Gateway’s largest distribution facilities under construction – both creating new jobs for the region.
