The Greenwich Peninsula is one of the Thames Gateway’s key development sites. Home to a large and exciting mixed-used urban development which covers 1.4 million sq.m (346 acres); it also is hosts the world famous O2 Arena and David Beckham’s Football Academy.
Stratford, located at the centre of the Thames Gateway, is the primary location for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will house the 2012 International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and Main Press Centre (MPC) which will support around 20,000 broadcasters, photographers and journalists communicating the Games to an audience of four billion people worldwide. The Centres will create just under 900,000 square feet of business space in legacy with the potential to generate thousands of new jobs.
Universities at Medway (UaM), is an innovative partnership between the universities of Greenwich, Kent and Canterbury Christ Church, along with Mid-Kent College. The four institutions share a new campus at Chatham Maritime, working together to respond to the educational and training needs of Medway and the Thames Gateway.
