Thurrock
Opening in 1990 in the Thames Gateway region, Lakeside was the first regional shopping centre in the South of England and now, together with the adjoining Retail Park, forms one of the largest shopping areas in Europe. The shopping centre offers a comprehensive selection of retail brands which are complemented with a wide range of cafés and restaurants and a multi-screen cinema, all playing their part in Lakeside's success in attracting shoppers throughout the day and late into the evening.
The 1.43 million sq ft (133,180 sq.m) of retail space, containing 249 shops and four department stores, makes Lakeside is one of the major shopping destinations of choice within the Thames Gateway. Situated by the M25 at Junction 30/31, Lakeside is easily accessible by road, rail and bus and boasts 13,000 free, secure parking spaces. In addition, Lakeside has a nine screen multiplex cinema, 1,100-seat food court plus 11 restaurants along The Boardwalk and a 26 acre lake complete with PADI certified diving school complex.
