Excellent road, rail and air infrastructure

The excellent transport infrastructure of the Thames Gateway opens up the UK, mainland Europe and the World for your business and your customers

Huge investment in road, rail and air transport has provided the connectivity needed to support business growth, with improved access to your customers, and for your employees. London is really close – just 17 minutes from Ebbsfleet International Station; international connections are quick and easy, with mainland Europe only 2 hours away by rail or air and the motorway network opens up the Greater South East and the rest of the UK.

Airports

There are two business airports – London City Airport which has been designed specifically for the business market with fast easy check in and private jet options available. Southend Airport is also transforming itself into a highly credible business airport with significant investment in new passenger services from the airport.

Rail Services

The High Speed 1 International Rail links St Pancras with the continent via Stratford and Ebbsfleet, and offers a fast and business friendly travel option with frequent departures – 14 Eurostar trains to Paris each day, and 10 to Brussels. As well as bringing Europe close this also makes London even closer with London St Pancras just 17 minutes from Ebbsfleet International from 2009.

Road Network

The region is very well connected into the UK’s motorway network, which means that 30% of the UK population can be reached by road in 2 hours, and most major European markets are within 1 days drive of the Thames Gateway.

Future Transport

Much investment is going in to improving local transport across the Thames Gateway region with over £100 million due to be invested between 2008 and 2011. Ongoing developments include Crossrail – set to connect West London to the East by 2016, as well as improvements to bus routes across the Gateway.
