Medway School Of Pharmacy
The Medway School of Pharmacy, the first regional school of pharmacy in the UK, is a unique collaboration between the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent based at the Chatham Maritime campus.
The school portfolio includes postgraduate courses, such as a multidisciplinary postgraduate certificate in supplementary and independent prescribing and a Master’s programme in Medicines Management.
The School currently has around 600 students with 60 members of staff comprising academic scientists, pharmacists and teacher practitioners seconded from the NHS. In June 2007 the first students graduated from the Foundation degree in Pharmacy Practice to progress directly to the second year of the MPharm programme.
- Specialist areas include: a training dispensary for pharmacy students and a suite of laboratories for 21st-century needs
- Center of excellence: The School’s objective is to establish an internationally recognised research reputation based on multidisciplinary team work
- The School has a five year plan (2005-10) for developing capacity and infrastructure to establish a program of high quality international research with a budget of £6 million to achieve this.
