Thurrock Learning Campus
The Thurrock Learning Campus is a new generation of education, led by South East Essex College - one of the most successful colleges in the south east. Together with a number of other highly successful further and higher education partners such as Palmers College, Barking College, The National Construction College, Anglia Ruskin University, The University of Essex and The University of East London, the Thurrock Learning Campus is here to open new doors to a range of exciting careers.
The partners of the Thurrock Learning Campus have been awarded a contract by the Learning and Skills Council, following a national competition to deliver education in the heart of Grays as a key part of the vision for revitalising the economy, skills and employment opportunities in the area. This was in response to a perceived need for new high quality provision and wider choice for young people.
We aim to transform FE in Thurrock with an exciting new learning and skills partnership and development of a new campus. The consortium partners are all highly successful existing providers. They are led by South East Essex College working with Palmers College, Barking College, The National Construction College, Lifeskills Solutions and other partners. We are also working in partnership with three universities: The University of Essex, The University of East London and Anglia Ruskin University.
We are liaising closely with Thurrock and Basildon College and there is a proposal that the College will merge with South East Essex College from 2009 which will facilitate taking forward the Thurrock Learning Campus plans.
South East Essex College has succesfully developed the Southend FE/HE Campus in partnership with the University of Essex which has seen a significant rise in participation with 16-18 numbers rising by 40% since the College moved into its new building in 2004.
