Kent Science Park, Sittingbourne, Kent - Investment Opportunities

Based in the Thames Gateway, the Kent Science Park campus, one of the largest in the South
East of England, offers over 500,000 sq ft (46,450 sq.m) of high specification, purpose built accommodation to let, flexible enough to nurture the ambitious start-up, as well as to serve the expanding or mature technology company.

Employing over 900 people and protected by a high level of security, Kent Science Park provides an extensive range of services and amenities. With first class infrastructure and high quality facilities, Kent Science Park provides conditions that technology companies need to flourish and grow.

Current resident at the Science Park, Ecologia, is an environmental consultancy and contractor. It offers efficient and flexible services, ranging from whole management and execution to fulfilling more specific requirements within wider projects.

The ongoing regeneration of Sittingbourne and Swale includes the construction of thousands of new homes and a new major link road which will smooth the flow of commercial traffic. The Aldi supermarket group is building its new distribution centre in the north of the area and Morrison’s has one of the Gateway’s largest distribution facilities under construction – both creating new jobs for the region.

Why move to Sittingbourne and Swale?

  • A strong existing cluster of companies, with over 80 innovative companies within the Kent Science Park campus alone
  • Strong heritage of biotechnology, medical devices & R&D
  • Recent expansion in Kent’s medical devices cluster despite strong competition
  • An excellent supply base of graduates – University of Kent and Greenwich University at Medway have strong Bio-Science faculties and there is a new School of Pharmacy at Medway
  • The Kent Bioscience Network – with a high number of Life Sciences companies based in the county, the Kent bioscience sector is proud of its success in discovery and innovation found in its larger businesses, which co-exist with fledgling bioscience companies such as those found at the Kent Science Park

Spotlight on The Kent Science Resource Centre

The Kent Science Resource Centre recently launched with its newly accredited Foundation degree for Laboratory Technologists. The Science Resource Centre is managed by the Sittingbourne Enterprise Hub Ltd. and the International Institute of Biotechnology. The Kent Science Resource Centre has an initial focus on Technicians and Technologist Biotech and Pharmaceutical Skills; it is the first of its kind in the UK. Many of these developing capabilities are transferable to companies working in the medical devices field.
