Stratford City

A vibrant and contemporary urban hub, catalysed by the Olympic spirit and offering fantastic working, shopping and living space

The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is located within the western end of the Thames Gateway at Stratford City, and will provide an enormous boost for the Gateway’s economy and local people. Within the Olympic fringe alone, the goal is to deliver 34,000 homes and nearly 46,000 jobs by 2012.

The 70 hectare site for Stratford City is just to the east of the new Olympic Park and will be home to over 620,000 sq.m of commercial, hotel and leisure space and 150,000 sq.m of retail space. Home to the Olympic Park, Stratford City is set to become a new, contemporary and vibrant metropolitan centre in the Thames Gateway. With its world class office space, the area is being constructed to the highest environmental standards and will create an estimated 35,000 new jobs in key sectors including finance and business services.

Stratford City is set to become a new and vibrant metropolitan centre in the Thames Gateway and will soon boast one of the UK’s largest shopping centres. Opening in the spring of 2011, the new centre will be anchored by John Lewis, Waitrose and Marks and Spencer and will feature 300 fashion, home and lifestyle brands.
